AFCEA Montgomery Chapter April Luncheon - April 18, 2017

The AFCEA Montgomery Chapter will host our Quarterly Luncheon on Tuesday, April 18, 2017.

Registration for 2017 Montgomery IT Summit and Montgomery AFCEA Golf Tournament Now Open!

The Montgomery AFCEA Chapter is pleased to announce that registration for our annual Montgomery Information Technology Summit (MITS) conference is now open! Set for 23-24 May, 2017, the conference theme for this year is "Accelerating Data Driven Decisions".

Also on the agenda are the annual Montgomery AFCEA Golf Tournament on 22 May, which raises thousands of dollars for the Montgomery AFCEA Education Foundation to provide scholarships and IT equipment to deserving students and schools in the River Region, and the Education Foundation's Annual Scholarship Luncheon on Tuesday 23 May.

Montgomery AFCEA Chapter News

In December, the chapter hosted a luncheon featuring guest speaker Richard Aldridge, program executive officer (PEO) for Business and Enterprise Systems (BES), at Wynlakes Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama. Aldridge spoke to a full house of military, industry and government personnel on the "State of the BES." He discussed some reorganizations BES is going through, including the creation of a position for a director of staff, chief of operations and other efforts to move the organization toward a more Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework. Aldridge also talked about the need to consolidate data and use it for more condition-based maintenance. He further emphasized that 2016 was the busiest year for the Air Force since 1968, and with the budget decrease coming in 2018, it is more critical now than ever to take risks to realize all the potential of the information age. This will require a change in the risk-adverse culture of the Air Force.  Read More
